Membership Information
The New Orleans Board of Trade, Ltd, is a non-profit created to perform the following functions:
- Promote the interests of commerce and trade
- Maintain and develop services designed to expedite the movement of imports and exports
- Provide and maintain a marine exchange to record and disseminate information on all vessels entering and departing the Mississippi River
- Provide quarters for the transaction of business and to make available a common meeting ground
- Provide a working organization in which the business interests of the area can unite for mutual welfare.
The members are actively involved in performing these valuable functions. NOBOT membership includes: Shippers, Freight Forwarders, Steamship Agents, Tug Operators, Barge Lines, Commodity Importers/Exporters, State and Federal River Pilots, Trade Associations, Bankers, Attorneys, and Accountants involved in the maritime trade.
All members receive a daily copy of our Mississippi River Currents newsletter containing information of concern to the Maritime Industry and is intended to be a tool that used to assist operations. Members also receive the NOBOT's Monthly Arrival Statistics. In addition, members receive discounts for various services provided.
Classes of Membership
The New Orleans Board of Trade, Ltd has two levels of membership, Full and Associate.
Full members- owners of one share of stock, which entitles them to all advantages and privileges listed, plus the opportunity to hold office and vote at all elections and meetings of the membership.
Associate members- enjoy all of the advantages and privileges of Full members, except the opportunity to own stock, hold office or vote.
Dues - Dues are fixed annually by the Board of Directors, and are currently $200.00 per year.
Stock - The price of Capital Stock is fixed at $100.00 per share and appreciation is prohibited by Louisiana Law as pertains to non-profit corporations. No dividends or other pecuniary remuneration shall be paid to stockholders.
